We are committed to upholding the truth and ensuring we only publish information that is factually correct and that has been verified from a trusted source.
Fact checking process

As a pioneering publisher of news and culture content for local communities, we understand the importance of approaching claims with scepticism, thinking critically, and upholding accuracy in whatever way possible.
We are committed to verifying all statistics and technical information by crosschecking with source documents and/or clearly stating the source of the information.
This sometimes involves seeking the consultation of an external expert or the primary source of the information and providing them with any necessary information from the content in question for verification.
Writing content
We encourage our in-house and citizen journalists to keep in mind the following considerations when producing articles:
- Credit, acknowledge, and verify the source(s) of your information.
- Consider whether you know enough about the information to qualify as a trustable source.
- Think critically when addressing claims.
- Never make assumptions.
Internal fact-checking
Our content is fact checked in-house by the publisher.
Opinion
Opinion pieces includes content that advocates for ideas and draws conclusions based on the interpretation of facts and data, and tells the public what the author or contributor thinks about an event or issue. Where content presented as opinion includes reported facts and quotes, the facts and quotes will be verified.
